Description

Relationship work asks of us to live with the dynamic tension between creating safety and taking risks that can be experienced as dangerous. Finding the “window of tolerance” where couples can feel secure enough to bring forth uncomfortable truths, navigate conflict, expose vulnerabilities, and welcome each other’s individuality is essential.

The somatic relationship approach I take draws from the traditions of Core Energetics as well as the challenges and insights of my 43 year marriage to Marcia. The Embodied Relationship approach is also informed by a number of other modalities and traditions, including IFS, attachment theory, Polyvagal theory and Pathwork.

In our time together, I will address some of the key components to helping couples move from protection to connection. We will explore the fundamentals of healthy conflict, and how we support couples in activating empathic resonance.

About the Spotlight Organization

John Pierrakos, MD developed the Core Energetics Evolutionary Process and is the founder of the Institute of Core Energetics. Core Energetics theory comes from the premise that emotional, mental and physical disturbances are symptoms of blocked energy due to an individual’s adaptive responses to environmental deficits or injuries in childhood. The work brings consciousness to how we block our energy and recreate defense patterns adapted in childhood that keep us limited and disempowered. READ MORE
