Embodied Jung Conference, South Tyrol, Italy
Registration closes July 15th!
Dates: September 8-11, 2022 (Check-in at Noon, September 8; Check-out at 10:30am September 11)
This exciting conference will bring together leaders in the field of Depth Psychology who integrate embodied, creative methods in their clinical work and teaching. Presentations include talks, embodied explorations, trauma-informed work integrating somatic and imaginal dimensions, embodied neuroscience, and working with symbols and dreams in the body. We’ll begin with a first showing film about the life and work of pioneering Dance/Movement therapist and Jungian analyst, Dr. Joan Chodorow, and reflect on how the arts have always played an integral role in healing and social activism.
As we know, intolerable experiences often linger wordlessly in the somatic unconscious, making it hard to live in one's own skin. As James Joyce put it, “Mr. Duffy lived a short distance from his body.” Simultaneously, we are having a crisis of the imagination. Deepening our understanding of the mind/body/spirit connection, the interplay of emotions, recovery of the imagination, creativity, embodied resonance, agency, and the development of consciousness is ever more essential in these challenging times.
Experiencing the interconnectedness of all sentient life, understanding “lived experience” and “felt meaning” are at the root of C.G. Jung’s work. How these experiences affect our relationship to self, other, community and the planet is at the heart of this conference.
Dr. Tina Stromsted will join other international Jungian analysts, somatic/movement psychotherapists & neuroscience teachers to present "embodied lectures" and movement experiences dedicated to the integration, awareness, and essential nature of somatic experience in the healing process and in any lived experience.
A 12th century Abbey with a timeless library, a chapel, & beautiful vineyards will be our home during these days. All are welcome! Students and practitioners of psychotherapy and/or somatic, body-centered disciplines are especially encouraged to attend. We hope you’ll join us as we explore these themes in community in this beautiful part of the world!
