Online Series: Our Creation Stories with Joy Cosculluela

SHORT SUMMARY

Inspired by exploring dances with Anna Halprin in the natural environment, this workshop evokes sensations, feelings, and imagination as we find reflections of ourselves in nature. Using the practices of the Life-Art Process, we create and hold space to dance, witness, and learn from each other.

Presented by Tamalpa Institute

May 03 - May 24, 2021

EVENT DESCRIPTION

4 Mondays, May 3-24, 10AM-12PM PDT $80/series Through the lens of Indigenous wisdom, we humbly re-learn and remember our interconnectedness with people and land. We tap into nature’s bodies to reconnect with who we are — our creation stories or cultural origins that live within our bones. Where do we come from? What is my ocean? What is my mountain? Who are my people? Inspired by exploring dances with Anna Halprin in the natural environment, this workshop evokes sensations, feelings, and imagination as we find reflections of ourselves in nature. Using the practices of the Life-Art Process, we create and hold space to dance, witness, and learn from each other. As we encounter our creation stories, we draw, write, and create altars to dedicate, symbolize, and give voice to the dances within. At the end of the series, we perform our creation stories and reflect, as catalyst for further thought, to reimagine new ways of living in mutual co-creation with people and land. Please have a comfortable space to move, a small area to create an altar, and have drawing and writing materials on hand. Open to all. No dance or art experience needed. Open to all. No dance experience required.
