EVENT DESCRIPTION
May 01, 2021
If Divide and Conquer are the tools of Colonization, what are the tools of Decolonization? Join Rie Algeo Gilsdorf to build Architectures of Connection, reaching across the divides within our bodies and communities. We will explore practices of Unconditional Witness, Collective Sensing, and Action Confidence as methodologies of Decolonization. Utilizing the embodied social art form, Social Presencing Theater (SPT), start decolonizing the body from the empire of the mind by unconditionally witnessing and sensing into your own body. Then break down the isolating individualism of the dominant White culture by sensing the social field:
- within and through the small screen
- as your body moves among other bodies.
Move past whatever's got you stuck and find seeds of possibility and connections to help you get there.
In this workshop you will:
> Deepen understanding of White as an embodied color, culture & consciousness
> Examine integration of antiracism into the private somatic practice
> Situate individual efforts to decolonize/dismantle racism within a systems change paradigm > Practice factual, empathetic and generative listening to the individual body as well as the social body,
> Structure mutual support for the ongoing journey of antiracism.
