How Can We Heal the Shame, Trauma, and Isolation of 2020 and Step in to a New Era of Peace and Unity?

Free Online Webinar for Therapists and Helping Professionals

  • Friday, February 12, 2021
  • 10:00 AM  1:00 PM

There is an evolutionary purpose to healing shame. The attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 provided a shocking conclusion to a dangerous, difficult year, one in which our world was sorely tested.  We experienced all the markers of shame and trauma: isolation, divisiveness, boundary violations, danger from an invisible menace. As we finally get a glimmer of hope, of light from the other side, we need to look at what happened and how to move forward. This is where an understanding of where shame comes from and how it affects us becomes vital. Shame comes from isolation, from boundary violations and from difference. The new U.S. President spoke passionately about uniting and healing the country. As therapists and helpers, we have an important role to play in this process. If we can heal shame, we can focus on coming together and being united, on reaching out rather than pulling in and blaming others, on choosing hope over fear.

This workshop is designed to undo the aloneness and loss we all feel right now by sharing as a community; the workshop will be interactive. Coming from a heart-centered place, we will share concepts and exercises to help ourselves and our clients strengthen and replenish in the face of all we have been through, both personally and as a world.

Facilitated by Bret Lyon, PhD, SEP and Sheila Rubin, LMFT, RDT/BCT.
