Part I: Embodied Relational Sex Therapy™ training (ERST)

  • 2 Mar 2020
  • 6 Mar 2020

A Theoretical and Experiential Exploration of Body-Based Sex Therapy

Presented By: Stella Resnick, PhD

SUMMARY:

The ERST training integrates body-based Gestalt therapy, sex therapy, couples therapy, and interpersonal neurobiology. ERST is a holistic body-mind approach to individual and couples’ sexual enhancement through present-centered experiential processing, breath awareness and intention. The work is supported by the latest developments in neurobiology, grounded in an understanding of human sexual biodiversity, and attuned to the critical roles of pleasure and play in healing, health, and happiness.

Presenter bio:

Stella Resnick, PhD is a clinical psychologist, trainer, author, speaker, and AASECT-certified sex therapist and supervisor. She trained with both Fritz and Laura Perls and many other early pioneers in body psychotherapy. She has been studying interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory since 2001 and has been in a peer study group with Allan Schore for ten years. Her full-spectrum approach (cognitive-somatic and experiential-behavioral) focuses on the quality of life and health benefits of not only resolving chronic emotional pain but also specifically enhancing the capacity to enjoy pleasure and play. She views sexuality holistically, as a core aspect of the whole person and recognizes sexual development, and sex-negative or positive programing as intricately intertwined with the self-development from infancy, through childhood, adolescence, and throughout the lifespan. Stella received her doctorate at Indiana University, interned at UC Medical Center's Langley Porter NPI and has been practicing and training therapists in the U.S. and abroad for decades. She specializes in couples and sex therapy in Beverly Hills, CA and trains and supervises therapists in Embodied Relational Sex Therapy™ (ERST). She has written three books focused on pleasure: The Pleasure Zone: Why We Resist Good Feelings; The Heart of Desire: Keys to the Pleasures of Love; and her latest book, Body-to-Body Intimacy: Transformation through Love, Sex, and Neurobiology (2019) on which the ERST training is based.
