POSTER ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

DEADLINE MAY 31, 2010

The USABP Research Committee seeks submissions for POSTER PRESENTATIONS to be presented at the 2010 Conference - Unraveling Trauma:  Body, Mind, and Science

Individuals who will be attending the USABP Conference (October 23-25, 2010) and who are engaged in preliminary data analysis or who are in proposal development for a quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research project, are encouraged to submit a 250-300 word abstract for consideration in our poster session at this event.  Topics may include theoretical, substantive, or methodological contributions to somatic and body-centered psychotherapy research, or approaches to the dissemination of findings.

This is the best way to present preliminary work on innovations in the development and use of somatic theories and methods, to interact with other researchers, and to receive feedback on your work.  Posters will be presented during a dedicated sessions, where you and other poster presenters will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with conference attendees about your work.  You are also invited to brink handouts and other media to make the most of your session time.  This session will give you time to speak to specific elements of your research.

Individuals who are selected to display their posters must be registered for the USABP Conference.  The deadline for submissions of abstracts is May 31, 2010.  Persons selected to display posters will be notified by August 15, 2010.

What happens if my abstract is selected?

If you are notified that your abstract has been selected and you can display a poster you will need the following information to prepare your poster.  When you arrive at the conference you will be provided with a triptych foam poster board 3'x4'.  There will be 2-3 poster presentations per table (based on table size).  You will be REQUIRED to use the provided poster board.  Do not bring completed posters to conference - only bring your assembly materials.

Poster Guidelines

  • Poster sessions are designed to allow for one-on-one interaction with conference delegates. You display your work in a room with other posters, conference delegates come up to view it, and they may ask you questions or engage you in a conversation about it.
  • Stay next to your poster during your scheduled session, have your name badge prominently displayed, and be prepared to answer questions.
  • All components of your poster should be seen clearly from 3 feet away.
  • Your poster should be completely prepared and ready to be mounted before you arrive at the conference. Don’t assume that the conference organizers will have extra materials like tape, thumbtacks, or pens.
  • Once the scheduled poster session is over, we will invite you to keep your poster up for the remainder of the conference. If that’s the case, you may want to replenish the stock of business cards, brochures, or hand-outs that accompany your poster on a regular basis. If you run out of materials before the conference is over, you can leave a sign-up sheet near your poster so that delegates can leave their email addresses to request additional materials.
